Sip Story: Cinnamon Almond Milk Latte x Good Riddance

✨Good Riddance by Elinor Lipman✨

★★☆☆☆

☕️Drink: A Cinnamon Almondmilk Coffee… fueling the energy I needed to finish the story.

The story is based in NYC so the drink felt very “enjoying a city morning in your little studio apartment with a cup of coffee” to me.

- I used Blue Bottle coffee in my French press (Blue Bottle is a NYC fav of mine)
- For the foam I combined vanilla unsweetened almond milk, a dash of vanilla bourbon extract, and a teaspoon of cinnamon sugar
- Ta-Da! Easy enough!

Description/Review:

Okay don’t get me wrong, this book was definitely adorable, but ultimately it was very hard to get through.

I didn’t read any reviews before heading into it, and so I found myself giggling when I went to plug it in as “read” in my GoodReads… most reviews start something like “Good Riddance is how I felt when I finally finished this book”

It was one of my first reads of the year, and I actually have had it for almost a year. It was sitting in my TBR pile for so long that I finally forced myself to just sit down and read it… I guess there was a reason it took me so long to pick it up.

The premise is cute - it follows Daphne - a young woman who’s mom recently passed. One of the things passed down to her was her mom’s prized possession - a heavily annotated year book. When Daphne throws the yearbook in the garbage, a nosy neighbor picks it up and declares she is going to turn it into a movie. Terrified of her mom’s private life being broadcast to the world, Daphne does everything she can to get it back. With the help of another “friendly” and very attractive neighbor, they set out to uncover the mysteries hidden in that odd year book.

The story was clever - but better suited for maybe a short story or even would make a cute movie. I don’t want to spoil things but I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, and didn’t really find myself loving any of the characters.

Maybe I’m alone in my thoughts on this one but would love to hear other opinions if anyone else has read it!
